CLIENT
Village of Silverton
DESCRIPTION
Silverton is a Village (pop. 230) on the east shore of Slocan Lake in the Central Kootenay Regional District of British Columbia. The Village needed an assessment of its water distribution system, a strategic capital plan for addressing the recommended upgrade and maintenance program, and assistance with grant applications to fund for construction activities. My work directly enabled the Village to procure of a significant portion of the $500,000 project’s capital budget from provincial and federal grant programs.
SERVICES RENDERED
Following a series of upgrades to this small (pop. 230) village’s water mains, I began managing this client’s file and was tasked with producing an assessment of the current state of the entire system (source, storage, and distribution), and evaluating options and priorities for future upgrades, including a strategic capital plan.
I used my project work to successfully solicit a reduction in the Village’s fire insurance and also procure an infrastructure funding grant for the Village. This not only created a significant value added to the initial project consulting fees, but enabled the municipality to procure sufficient capital to ensure plenty of clean water for years to come.
